Harry Walker was born in Niagara Falls and attended both Upper Canada College before entering UTS in 1910. After leaving school he worked for the Imperial Bank, where he was a well-liked employee, and was a member of the Royal Canadian Yacht Club, as were his fellow UTS alumni George Dick and Wilfrid Tait. He was commissioned a lieutenant with the 81st Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force and went overseas to England in April 1916. He received additional training at West Sandling Camp before arriving in France that September with the 58th Battalion. He was killed in action on the Somme front the next month. His body was never found and he is commemorated, along with Murray Winchester, on the Vimy Ridge Memorial.
